Thao Nguyen is Youth Chair of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW and has initiated a number of arts and policy projects relating to cultural diversity and social justice. She has been extensively involved with
the settlement and generational issues of the Vietnamese community in NSW and is a member of the National Community Advisory Committee to SBS.

In 2004 she was selected to be the Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations General Assembly. Following a national consultation tour, she spent two months in New York City working with the Permanent
Australian Mission to the UNGA. Thao is completing a Bachelor of Commerce/LLB from the University of Sydney, majoring in International Relations, Government and Economics.
