Michael Nguyen was born in Australia and grew up in Cabramatta.

As well as being a student at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), studying B Business (Economics)/ B Laws, Michael also takes on the roles of the Anti-Racism Project Officer for the NSW Branch of the National Union of Students, the Ethnocultural officer at UTS Students Association, an elected Board Director of UTS Union Ltd., an elected student representative on the UTS Academic Board and the Ethnic Affairs Student Representative of the UTS Equity Reference Group.
