TRANSLATION OF DOCUMENTS (AND INTERPRETERS)
Qualifications and other documents should be translated into English. Official translations from the country of training are often acceptable.
If a document needs to be translated into English, authorised translations of professional documents, trade certificates and university or other educational qualifications can be obtained from the following organisations:
Community Relations Commission for a Multicultural NSW (CRC)
The CRC translates personal official documents such as birth, death and marriage certificates, educational qualifications and driver licences at a fee for service.
If an applicant has been in Australia for more than two years, is a permanent resident and receives support from the Department of Social Security, the service is free for up to two documents consisting of not more than 200 words each.
The CRC also provides face-to-face interpreting services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services may be obtained from anywhere in NSW by telephoning 1300 651 500 for the cost of a local call.
